The Queensland Orchid Society was founded in 1934 with the object to promote good fellowship among all those interested in orchid culture and horticulture in general; to further the knowledge and advancement of all that pertains to orchids, their natural history, cultivation and hybridisation.
The Queensland Orchid Society Inc. was a Foundation Member of The Australian Orchid Council in 1960.
The Society meets on the second Monday of every month (with the exception of January and December) at 8.00pm in the Ithaca Bowls Club, 22 Fulcher Road, Red Hill (Brisbane). Orchid growers from interstate and overseas, along with persons interested in orchids are most welcome to attend our meetings.
The Society welcomes Guest Speakers from interstate and overseas and we will be happy to arrange for such speakers to address our Society on our meeting night or at a special meeting.
The Queensland Orchid Society Inc. conducts two major shows in Autumn and Spring and these are held at the Mt. Coot-tha Botanic Gardens Auditorium, Brisbane.
There are nearly sixty orchid societies within the State of Queensland and six orchid societies conduct day time meetings.
